Description

Bee bread or perga is a valuable source of protein and rich in amino acids, vitamins and minerals. To preserve pollen, bees ferment it to make bee bread. To do this, they mix the collected pollen with a little honey in a honeycomb cell and seal it with a thin layer of propolis. Similar to sauerkraut, fermentation then takes place through lactic acid fermentation: the pollen is preserved and the valuable ingredients are biologically broken down. This makes it easier for the bees and us humans to absorb them.

Our hand-picked organic bee bread comes from natural honeycomb farming in the Attersee-Traunsee region and has a mild, sweet and sour taste. It can be enjoyed either on its own or with natural yogurt, muesli or honey, for example.

Notes

Bee bread is considered a dietary supplement in Austria. A maximum daily intake of 2 teaspoons (15g) is recommended. If bee bread is taken as a cure over several days, for example, one teaspoonful a day is sufficient in our personal experience.

Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied diet.
