The beekeeper
My name is Michael Schachinger and I have been fascinated by insects that establish colonies since forever. In 2016, with the support of my brother Richard, I started to fulfill a dream:
We kicked off the development of our own apiary around the Attersee-Traunsee region: the “Stockwerk Natural Honeycomb Beekeeping”!
My path
to the bee friend
I moved to Vienna after my first apprenticeship as a landscape gardener. There I discovered my passion for beekeeping and learned the craft at the world’s oldest beekeeping school. Later on, while working for a large organic apiary, I also started beekeeping at home. I wanted to find out how to enable bees to live their most natural life. Initially, working with natural honeycombs was intended as an alternative way of keeping bees. This turned out to be a special experience and my preferred way of beekeeping.
We can learn a lot about nature’s diversity when observing specific ecological contexts closely. Diversity opens up many paths and opportunities. This is especially true for beekeeping. Those who get involved will become rich in experience. To us, the honey harvest at the end of a bee year is the most beautiful bonus and sweetest reward for our work.

We take time for the bees – and for all who appreciate their honey and our philosophy: You are looking for special food from the region to enjoy, as a gift or for your store? You want to organize a honey tasting for your foodcoop, you are looking for pure wax for your cosmetics or you know a natural meadow orchard in the northern Salzkammergut where bees could feel at home? We look forward to hearing from you!
